Song of Stars Response to COVID-19

Hi everybody, it’s Tiffany Vlasveld here from Song of Stars School of Music.

I wanted to take the time to connect and update you all, the Song of Stars community, on how we’re navigating this current situation with COVID-19. In following the advice of the federal and provincial health agencies as well as seeing so much value in keeping music lessons alive, especially during this time, we’ve decided to go online!

This gives everyone the ability to still practice social distancing while continuing their musical education and learning. We’ll be continuing with online lessons until government restrictions are removed and it’s safe to transition back to lessons in person.

The platform we’re using for online lessons is ZOOM. It’s the most popular and user friendly platform and works on all devises. To make things as simple and easy we’ve created some instructions for you guys on how to get set up.

As much as we’ll miss seeing you in class and in person we’re excited to bring you what we’ve got planned for our online lessons! Some of the beauty in continuing lessons online is that…

  • It gives you something to do. If you are bored or getting stir crazy in your house or keep refreshing your facebook and IG feed and nothing new is coming up. Learning music is such a healthy way to exercise the mind and to continue to grow musically.

  • A Familiar Face. Your teacher has been on this musical journey with you and know’s exactly how far along you are as well as how to get you to that next level.

  • Creates Consistency. with the world changing so quickly recently, having a familiar face weekly and a routine to stick with can bring comfort and security.

  • The Convenience. i.e. Lessons in your pajama’s :)

  • Recorded Video Lessons. In using ZOOM, we’ll be sending you a video recording of each lesson as well as a personalized “homework page” for you to refer back to during the week as much as you need to.

Remember that you can contact us directly @ 778-929-7827 or by email @ info@songofstars.com during this time - we’ll also be updating our website and social media feeds regularly, so please follow us if you don’t already.

Thank you so much for your patience and for being on this journey with us. We are all in this together and your support of your teacher as well as local small business means so much. It’s our joy to bring music into your home weekly.

Guys, take care during this difficult time. We’ll continue to be in touch.

Kindly,

Tiffany Vlasveld
