Sign In And Sign Out Procedures

As your child's safety is important to us, we require that all children be signed in and out by a parent or caregiver and that you speak to your child's instructor each day.

Sign-In

Please arrive no more than 5-10 minutes earlier than when your camp is supposed to begin, especially on your first day. This is to ensure that you have a smooth check in and camp can begin on time.

Once your child has been checked in, please try not to linger. We understand that you want to make sure your child is settling in but we want to make sure their attention is on their instructor.

Sign-Out

We kindly ask that you arrive right at the pick-up time to ensure a smooth check-out. Notify your instructor if someone other than yourself will be picking up your child. This is also a great opportunity to discuss your child's goals or ask questions about daily activities for the class.

Recess And Snacks

We ask that parents send their children to camp with a water bottle and some sort of snack. Song of Stars is a nut free zone - all snacks and food for camps must be nut free and cannot be shared.

Activities

In our camps we will have a variety of activities including, forming a band, writing original songs, recording in the studio, making band merch and more. Campers will be put into groups of 3 or 4 within similar age categories (i.e., 6-8, 8-10 and 10-12).

At Song of Stars, we like to keep our rules simple and easy for kids to remember to guide behavioural expectations for the week. Instructors review these seven simple rules on the first day of camp in a fun and interactive manner that engages the class and makes them feel like they helped create the rules.

We believe in positive reinforcement to gain ultimate success. With that in mind, we employ a no time-out policy. If a child's behaviour is inappropriate, we encourage our instructors to refer to the camp rules with their class or consult a supervisor or site manager for assistance. If this behaviour persists and is disruptive to the progress of the class, the instructor and supervisor or site manager will work together with the child's parents to find the best method for improving their child's behaviour at camp.

Cancellation Policy

Before 8am on the Monday a week before camp begins:

CANCELLATION FEE - $25

After 8am on the Monday a week before camp begins:

CANCELLATION FEE - 50% CAMP PRICE

After 4pm on the Friday before camp begins:

CANCELLATION FEE - 100% CAMP PRICE

Behaviour Management

Song of Stars believes that praise and positive reinforcement are effective methods of teaching and behaviour management of children. When children receive positive and understanding interactions from adults and others, they develop good self-concepts, problem-solving abilities, and self-discipline. Coaches are expected to conduct themselves at all times in a respectful and professional manner when working with children and interacting with parents.

Child Protection

Your child’s safety is our number one priority! We'll do everything in our power to protect all children from any potential harm. We reserve the right to dismiss any child from a program that intentionally harms others, brings a weapon to the program, vandalizes property, or displays other extreme behaviour. In these instances, no refund is issued. In matters of inappropriate behaviour, parents are notified verbally and/or in writing with a course of action.

All Song of Stars Coaches must complete a criminal record check. All supervisors and managers must complete a criminal record check before lessons/camps begin.

Liability Waiver

By registering with Song of Stars, the parent/guardian of the registered camper(s) on their own behalf and on behalf of the camper(s) hereby agrees that Song of Stars will not be held responsible for any accident, injury or loss, liability, damage, or cost they may incur, however caused, whether negligently or intentionally, and agrees to release and hold harmless all instructors, staff, volunteers, and sponsors from all claims or damages without limitation which may arise as a result of/or by reason of such accident or loss.
