Toon is a 6 lesson course designed to accelerate you as a musician and artist.

Do you feel like there are pieces missing from you being able to confidently pursue your musical aspirations?

TOON is a summer program for the next generation of singer-songwriters, designed to help young aspiring artists dive deep into what it takes to be a professional musician in this day and age. Exploring their artistry through weekly collaborative workshops, co-writing sessions, demo recording, and live performance training, artists will leave with an expansive skill set to help launch them into the stars they were meant to be.

Ages 10-18

Curious about pursuing a career in music and/or have a strong desire to grow their artistry

Has written songs before or is eager to learn

Basic skills in at least one instrument is an asset

Is open to collaboration with other students

• Debunking myths about the many potential career paths in the music industry

• Exploring the evolution of a song from voice memo to final master

• Co-writing and collaboration with other artists

• Demo recording with professional musicians

• Live performance bootcamp, including how to build an engaging setlist, what to say between songs, and how to feel calm and confident on any stage

• Live sound (what you need to know when you step on stage, and how to effectively communicate with sound techs at live gigs)

• Music distribution/royalties (what they are and how they work)

Cancellation Policy

Before 8am on the Wednesday a week before TOON begins:

CANCELLATION FEE - $25

After 8am on the Wednesday a week before TOON begins:

CANCELLATION FEE - 50% TOON PRICE

After 4pm on the Sunday before TOON begins:

CANCELLATION FEE - 100% TOON PRICE

Behaviour Management

Song of Stars believes that praise and positive reinforcement are effective methods of teaching and behaviour management. When children and youth receive positive and understanding interactions from adults and others, they develop good self-concepts, problem-solving abilities, and self-discipline. Coaches are expected to conduct themselves at all times in a respectful and professional manner when working with children and youth and interacting with parents.

Child Protection

Your child’s safety is our number one priority! We'll do everything in our power to protect all children and youth from any potential harm. We reserve the right to dismiss anyone from a program that intentionally harms others, brings a weapon to the program, vandalizes property, or displays other extreme behaviour. In these instances, no refund is issued. In matters of inappropriate behaviour, parents are notified verbally and/or in writing with a course of action.

All Song of Stars Coaches must complete a criminal record check.

Liability Waiver

By registering with Song of Stars, the parent/guardian of the person registered on their own behalf and on behalf of the person registered hereby agrees that Song of Stars will not be held responsible for any accident, injury or loss, liability, damage, or cost they may incur, however caused, whether negligently or intentionally, and agrees to release and hold harmless all instructors, staff, volunteers, and sponsors from all claims or damages without limitation which may arise as a result of/or by reason of such accident or loss.

Drop-Off

Please arrive no more than 5-10 minutes earlier than when TOON is supposed to begin, especially on your first day. This is to ensure that TOON can begin on time.

Once your child has been dropped off, please try not to linger. We understand that you want to make sure your child is settling in but we want to make sure their attention is on their instructor.

Pick-Up

We kindly ask that you arrive right at the pick-up time. Notify your instructor if someone other than yourself will be picking up your child.

Breaks And Snacks

We ask for registrants to bring a water bottle and some sort of snack for intermission. Song of Stars is a nut free zone - all snacks and food must be nut free and cannot be shared.
