  • First Lesson Payment

    Your first lesson with Song of Stars is a no obligation one-time lesson. This gives you the opportunity to meet and have your first lesson with your coach making sure it’s a great student/coach fit! You’ll be charged for a single lesson (based on your lesson length) within a few days of your enrollment submission. After your first lesson you’ll have up to 24 hrs to let us know if you don’t want to continue or if we need to switch anything up. You must let the office know, not your coach, by emailing us at office@songofstars.com or by calling 778-929-7827. Without any response, after 24 hours, we'll assume that your excited to continue and enrollment will be confirmed. At that point, please refer to our policies regarding things like missed lessons and how to withdrawal. 

    First Months Tuition | Administration Fee

    After 24 hours of your first lesson, enrollment is automatically confirmed and recurring payments will be set up. Your first month’s payment is pro-rated based on the remaining amount of lessons that month. Payment will either be processed around the 15th or the 1st of the next month depending on when you started. Included in the first month’s tuition is an administration fee of $25 (per person) and a FREE Song of Stars supply tote.

    Monthly Payments

    After the first month, payments will be recurring and are deducted on the 1st of each month. Tuition is based on an average of 4 lessons per month through the calendar year and is not increased or decreased for long or short months. We have taken out all the holidays and days the studio is closed and averaged it out over the course of the year. Most months you will get 4 lessons, some months you will get 5, and other months you may only get 3 because of a holiday, but you are never paying for a day that we are closed. This makes everyone’s accounting easier.

    All monthly payments are processed by pre-authorized credit cards or auto draft from checking accounts. Tuition is not prorated for missed lessons. Tuition does not include any retail teaching materials such as books, sheet music or instruments as well as hired musicians for showcases.

    *Please note that Credit Card payments will have an additional fee for processing (3.4% plus $0.15)

  • Cancelling or ReScheduling Your First Lesson

    After filling out and submitting the enrollment form, your first lesson payment is non-refundable 48 hours before your scheduled lesson. In order to cancel or reschedule you must let us know no later than 48 hours prior to your lesson and we'll be happy to either refund you or find another day that works best for you.

    After your first lesson you'll have 24 hours to let us know if for whatever reason you didn't want to continue. Without any response, after 24 hours, we'll assume that you’re excited to continue and enrollment will be confirmed.     Options For When Away or Missing a Lesson

    Once enrollment is confirmed (24 hours after your first lesson) all lessons must be taken at the student’s regularly scheduled time. Refunds or credits will not be given for scheduled lessons missed by the student. However, to best serve our SOS artists, Song of Stars offers a few great options for when you’ll be away or have to miss a lesson. In order to qualify for the options provided we ask that you contact us, and not your coach, by filling out the “student away form”

    Here are your options…

    • Online Lesson

      Jumping online for your lesson can easily be done remotely. Just let us know you’d like an online lesson by filling out the “student away form” and we’ll let your coach know. Further instructions on accessing your coaches zoom room will be provided once the form is submitted. We ask that you let us know at least 1 hour before your scheduled lesson begins that you’d like to go online. This gives your coach some time to adjust, prepare and provide your lesson in the new format requested. With last minute changes we can’t always guarantee that the coach will be able to switch lesson formats that quickly.

    • Personalized Lesson > Emailed

      Your coach will create a personalized lesson for you during your scheduled lesson time that will be sent by email. Just let us know you’d like a lesson emailed by filling out the “student away form” and we’ll let your coach know. We ask that you let us know at least 1 hour before your scheduled lesson begins that you’d like a personalized lesson emailed. This gives your coach some time to adjust, prepare and provide your lesson in the new format requested.

    • Makeup Lesson

      SOS provides up to, with no more then, 2 makeup lessons within the year (1 before each Showcase – May/June & Nov/Dec). The 2 makeup lesson dates are pre-determined and decided by your coach at the beginning of the year with times subject to availability (visit songofstars.com/makeups to see those dates). To qualify for a makeup lesson, we kindly ask that you provide us a 1-week notice of when your lesson will be missed by filling out the “student away form” and not by contacting your coach. You will not qualify for a makeup lesson if you only tell your coach. Makeup lessons that are not redeemed before a student withdraws will expire.

    • "Lend" Your Spot to a Family Member or Friend

      You can also send a family member or friend in your place for the dates you will miss. Just let us know you’d like to lend your spot out by filling out the “student away form” and we'll let your coach know. We ask that you let us know at least 24 hours before your scheduled lesson begins that you’d like to lend your spot out. This gives your coach some time to prepare for the lesson. Please note that it's your responsibility to have your friend or family member reimburse you as your lesson payment will not be refunded.

  • To discontinue lessons and charges to your account we ask that you fill out our withdrawal form before the 15th of your last month. We do not prorate tuition for the last month’s lessons. Students will be responsible for their last month’s tuition whether or not they attend lessons.

  • We are a year-round school with lessons that continue through the Summer. To accommodate vacation time for the Summer months of July and August we encourage using our alternative lesson options seen under “cancellations | options for when away or missing a lesson”.

  • Lesson Length Change

    To decrease your lesson length or monthly rate (i.e., 60min to 30min lessons) and charges to your account we ask that you let us know before the 15th of the month. We do not prorate tuition for the last month’s lesson rate difference. Students will be responsible for their last month’s tuition whether or not they decide to attend the longer lesson length or not. The new monthly rate would start on the 1st of the next month.

    To increase your lesson length or monthly rate (i.e., 30min lessons to 60min or 30min semi-private lessons) and charges to your account we ask that you email or call the office at least 1-week prior to the date of the lesson you want to change. While we can’t guarantee that there will be availability we’ll do our best to make the adjustment as soon as we can. This might require some rescheduling (time, day and or coach) to find a spot to accommodate the additional minutes. Once confirmed we’ll pro-rate and charge for only the additional amount of time and weekly lessons left that month. The new monthly rate would start on the 1st of the next month.

    Lesson Time or Day Change

    To change the time or day of your weekly lesson we ask that you email or call the office at least 1-week prior to the date of the lesson you want to change. While we can’t guarantee that there will be availability we’ll do our very best to accommodate. The main thing to be aware of when changing the day is that Monday’s are at a different rate than the other days of the week.

    When changing your day to a Monday then the monthly rate would be reduced to Monday’s monthly rate. Or the other way around, If you want to change from a Monday to another day of the week then the monthly rate would be increased. The new monthly rate would start on the 1st of the next month.

    Coach Change

    The team at SOS is pursued & hand selected for their talent, experience & character. Our qualified coaches will vary in their musical competencies and genre preferences while still carrying the culture and distinction that makes Song of Stars unique. Our aim is to connect you with the right coach based on your objectives and availability. That said, we understand that at times there may be reasons for considering a coach change such as wanting to learn a different instrument, style of learning, student/coach connection, etc. To request a coach change we ask that you email or call the office at least 1-week prior to the date of the lesson you want to change. While we can’t guarantee that there will be availability with a new coach we’ll do our very best to accommodate.

  • In most cases Song of Stars follows the local school district’s discretion for closures due to severe weather (i.e. snow) and at times for other issues outside of our control. In the case of a closure a make up lesson with your coach will be scheduled promptly. If a make up lesson doesn’t work out, you will be issued a refund.

    If we stay open but you'd rather stay home then as long as you have some WIFI and a device you can still connect via Zoom for your lesson at your regular day and time with your coach.

  • Parents are always allowed to sit in on lessons. We have an open-door policy.

  • Children must wait for their parents to pick them up inside Song of Stars. Please do not ask them to meet you elsewhere. Song of Stars assumes no responsibility for children who leave unaccompanied.

  • For any lessons missed by a coach, Song of Stars will attempt to provide a substitute coach and will contact you to let you know. If a substitute coach is unavailable, a private makeup lesson with your coach will be scheduled promptly.

  • If you arrive late, your lesson will still end at the scheduled time. This loss of time will not be made up another time.

    The same applies to online lessons so please be prepared before your lesson begins (i.e. Do you have the right Zoom ID and password? Have you tested your audio and video? How’s your WIFI?, etc) For more info on being properly set up for Zoom lessons click > Zoom setup

    If you’re running behind and choose last minute for an online lesson or personalized lesson emailed rather than in-person lessons please note that with last minute changes we can’t always guarantee that the coach will be able to switch lesson formats that quickly.

  • If you arrive on time but the previous lesson runs late, you will still be given your full-allotted time.

  • While we don’t offer free trial lessons, once enrolled your 1st paid lesson with Song of Stars is a no obligation one-time lesson. This gives you the opportunity to meet and have your first lesson with your coach making sure it’s a great student/coach fit! You’ll have up to 24 hours after your first lesson to cancel. After 24 hours enrollment will be confirmed and recurring payments will be set up.

  • We recommend 60 min lessons for most people in order to get the most value out of your time. However we do offer 45 min and 30 min lesson times mainly for younger children.

    If you are interested in a combo lesson (i.e. voice and guitar), we do require a minimum of a 60 min lesson (30 min’s per discipline).

  • Parents, legal guardians of minors, students and adult students waive the right to any legal action for any injury sustained on school property resulting from normal lesson activity or any other activity conducted by the students or their siblings before, during, or after lesson time, including hearing loss or hearing damage. Song of Stars is not responsible for any damage done to vehicles or items stolen from vehicles.
